FDU Library News

The renovations/construction inside have been going on behind temporary walls and closed doors.  Only constuction personnel were allowed in and able to see the progress.  Some of the library and Academic Support Center staff were given a tour by the project foreman on August 8th.  Here’s your chance to peek inside too!

The spring semester ended over a month ago.  Have you been wondering about the progress at the construction site of the Monninger Center?  Take a look…..

The old and new are now joined and look as if they are one.   The stairs on the bluff that were dismantled, have been moved and are being reassembled.  

Renovation of the interior of the library is well under way.  The library is open…sections of the building are blocked off, but the staff is ready and willing to guide you through the maze!

Due to construction issues, the College at Florham Library will be closed Monday and Tuesday, May 21-22.

Construction of the new section continues at a steady pace, with no interruptions from bad weather.  After the floors were put in, walls started going up, obstructing view of the work from many offices inside the library.  Although we can’t see what’s going on, we can certainly still hear noise and chatter as the crew works diligently to meet deadlines. 

Inside construction has begun, as well.  The Orangerie has been closed off since Spring Break as licensed crews removed asbestos from the ceiling and under the floor tiles.  That work is now complete.

Monninger Center (College at Florham) update:

Taking advantage of the unseasonably warm weather, the construction crew has progressed from pouring foundations to creating a wall!  Although the university will be closed for a holiday break, the construction crew will be on the job.

Working in the College at Florham Library has been quite an experience over the past few weeks.  The staff expected the construction of the Monninger Center to bring noise, but was surprised to experience what felt more like a series of earthquakes!  Here’s the culprit…

Once the ground is cleared and levelled, the construction of the building can begin.  Please click here for additional construction site photos found on the library’s Facebook page.

Construction has begun on the John and Joan Monninger Center for Learning and Research on the College at Florham campus.   The area between the Library and the Student Center (the apple orchard) is a construction zone and clearly off limits to faculty, staff, and students as evidenced by a fence that now blocks off the area including the stairs. The Student Center doors that face the Library have become an emergency exit only. A new lighted walkway has been constructed in front of the Library’s Orangerie which will provide passage between the Student Center and the Stadler-Zenner building, the Rec Center, and Dreyfuss.
