FDU Library now has Kindle Fires and Kindle Touches!  Students, faculty and staff can check them out for up to 7 days.  

The Kindle Fire is a tablet that can be used to browse the Internet, do library research, read e-books, stream videos and music, play games, and much more. The Kindle Touch is an e-Reader, similar to the original Kindle, only smaller.

Kindle TouchTwo of each type of device will be available at both the College at Florham Library and the Giovatto Library on the Metro campus. Please stop by the circulation desk at either library to sign out the devices or for more information about our e-Reader and Laptop (including iPads) loaner programs. A valid FDU library account in good standing is required for loan of these devices.

To download these titles on a library device, simply connect to WiFi and look for your title in the Archives folder. Click on the name of the book in order to initiate the download process. Contact the Systems Librarian, oshea at fdu.edu if you encounter any problems.

New eBook Titles, Apps and Games Available on Library Kindles and iPads

Over the summer the  FDU campus libraries have added a number of new Kindle eBook titles to their collections. The libraries have also added  a new feature — Kindle games — to the Kindle devices. On the iPads, we have placed many new apps and some new eBook titles are available through the Kindle for iPad app. Students, faculty and staff my borrow a Kindle for up to 1 week and may renew their loan for another week. The iPads currently may be only used within the library.

There are two word games available on the Kindle — Every Word and Shuffled Row.

The new eBooks  represent a variety of categories — Fiction, Mysteries/Thrillers, Romance, Bollywood, Business, and Medicine to name a few. New titles include:

iPads Available in the Campus Libraries

Are you curious about Apple’s new iPad? Is it the next big thing in computing? Do you want to experience it hands-on and see how it compares to other cool technology?

Come to the library where you can spend up to two hours exploring with our newly acquired iPads … experience it for yourself!

The FDU Library has acquired iPads for use in the library (one per library). iPads may be borrowed for up to two hours and can be used to browse the Internet, do library research, read e-books, stream videos and music, play games, and much more. The iPads are part of the libraries’ growing technology lending program which also includes laptops for use in the library, and the collection of Amazon Kindles, Sony eReaders and iPod Touches that may be borrowed by FDU students, faculty, and staff for up to one week.
