From our Electronic Resources Librarian:

Over the summer and through today, many additions, deletions, and upgrades of databases have occurred in the FDU Online Library. Here’s a summary:

New Databases:

IBISWorld
International Encyclopedia of Communication
NetAdvantage (Standard & Poors)
Oxford English Dictionary Online
Pop Culture Universe
—Changed from trial to subscribed status.
SocINDEX with Full Text
Women Writers Online

Upgraded Databases:

NoveList Plus
—Replaces NoveList; adds nonfiction books.
Oxford Art Online
—Replaces Grove Art Online; adds art reference works.
Oxford Music Online
—Replaces Grove Music Online; adds music reference works.
UNdata
—Replaces United Nations Common Database (UNCDB).
World Book Advanced
—Replaces World Book Online.

Upgraded Access:

Value Line Investment Survey
—Now accessible on campus network & remotely.

Deleted Databases:

ASSIA: Applied Social Sciences Index and Abstracts*
iPOLL
—No longer needed by researchers who originally requested it.
LISA: Library and Information Science Abstracts*
Physical Education Index*
RCLweb (Resources for College Libraries)
—Used insufficiently to justify cost.
Social Services Abstracts*
Sociological Abstracts*

*In addition to Sociological Abstracts, the CSA (now ProQuest) Sociological Abstracts package included 4 “free” databases but lacked full text. By replacing Sociological Abstracts with EBSCO’s SocINDEX with Full Text, we gain some 283 new full-text journals of generally substantial academic quality.

NJKI-Related Changes:

As of now, access has been lost to the NJKI databases with the following exceptions:

Academic Search Premier
—Now funded by the State Library as part of NJKI.
Business Source Premier
— NJKI is reinstating this database.
CINAHL (with Pre-CINAHL)
—We are now paying for this ourselves.
MEDLINE
—We are now paying for this ourselves.
Nature and Research and Review Journals Online
—We are now paying ourselves.
ReferenceUSA
—Now funded by the State Library as part of NJKI.
